There's a lot of screen time in my life as a designer, luckily I have countless lo-fi playlists to keep me company and help me focus through the day.
Lo-Fi is a genre of music that inspires calm vibes and nostalgia. It's accompanied by muted colour palettes and animated figures reminiscent of 80s and 90s anime cartoons. I wanted to play with my love of Lo-Fi vibes with another love - food branding- to create a passion project for Lo-Fi Chocolate Co.
I began with a sketch of a woman relaxing with her cat which I coloured using a muted palette of blues and purples. I then had a lot of fun finding a pixelated font (inspired by my Gameboy Colour games from 1995-1999) and playing with the packaging copy - including a retro loading bar to signify the cocoa strength and "single origin beats" instead of "single origin beans".

Original colouring style - aiming for cosy colouring pencil vibes but decided this looked to busy once part of the final design.

Lo-Fi is also often associated with a very popular YouTube Channel's character mascot- LoFi Girl. She's distinctive thanks to her over-ear headphones - which have become a trope of the style themselves. For this reason, I wanted to include overhead earphones in the logo and also as an asset for the brand and wrapper design.
